10 Years of Stunning Predictions

That's how much money you could have made investing $1,000 in a single recommendation offered at last year's Agora Financial Investment Symposium.

A profit like that could pay for your Symposium seat… first-class airfare… a top-notch hotel… stylish transportation… great dinners out on the town… souvenirs for the family…

And still leave you with plenty of cash when you head home.

We normally don't brag about the money you could make by joining us on our annual pilgrimage to Vancouver, but instead…

We prefer to talk about our stellar lineup of speakers… the four days of brilliant investment strategies and ideas you can't find anywhere else… the chance to listen to and rub elbows with some of the smartest market analysts in the world… the opportunities to meet new investment contacts and create lasting friendships… and the intimate access to a variety of A-list companies ― hand-selected and vetted from hundreds of applicants ― representing the best investment opportunities in a variety of markets…

And all those things still apply to this year's Symposium.

But millions of people are suddenly worried about how they spend their money… and a trip to Vancouver might seem like an unnecessary expense.

So I want to be clear right upfront ― with the chance of another 1,035% recommendation, this year's Symposium is too important to miss. The markets are still in uncharted waters and too many people are risking their money on dangerous hopes.

Simply put, you can't afford NOT to join us in Vancouver.

When you do, you'll also be our guest of honor as we celebrate a most auspicious milestone… a feat we couldn't have achieved without you…

It's the 10th anniversary of both the Agora Financial Investment Symposium and our flagship e-letter The Daily Reckoning…

And we want you to help us kick off our next decade of success.

A Decade of Unconventional Analysis and Exceptional Profits

Ten years might not seem like a big deal ― unless you consider how much the market has changed in that time…

In 1999, Wall Street was celebrating Dow 10,000… the S&P 500 topped 1,300… the Nasdaq was over 2,500. But we warned you the party wouldn't last ― and today, the indexes are down 8%, 26% and 22%, respectively

Gold was selling for $280 an ounce, and silver languished around $5. But our analysts said prices were poised to take off. Now you can't buy an ounce of gold for less than $926, and silver tops $13 an ounce

A barrel of oil cost just over $20, and mainstream analysts predicted the death of high energy prices. Not true, we said ― and today, you'll be lucky to see oil below $55, after hitting a high of $147 last July.

If you've been with us from the very beginning, you had a chance to avoid the pitfalls that other people blindly stumbled in to. You had the tools you needed to avoid the recession in 2001… as well as the deep recession we face today.

But even though we're calling this year's conference "A Decade of Reckoning," we're not focusing on the past. You won't hear a lot about the present, either.

Instead, the Agora Financial Investment Symposium offers what you can expect for the next 10 years:

How much longer will this bear market last? Have we hit the bottom yet or is the worst yet to come? What industries stand the best chance of an early recovery… and more importantly, which companies will thrive even if things get worse?

Can the Federal Reserve "fix" the economy without sacrificing the U.S. dollar's value? And if the dollar isn't safe, which currencies should you turn to?

Is gold gearing up for another rally? How high is it likely to go? And what are the smartest gold plays you can make?

How does the recession affect the long-term price of oil? Energy? Commodities? How long until emerging or "disruptive" technologies send prices lower… and will we see another run at $120 per barrel oil? Which companies offer the best way to invest in these opportunities?

How has market volatility affected stock options? And which options strategies are most likely to pay off in today's environment? How can you use them to reduce the risk in the current equities markets?

The answers to these questions, and many more, will affect your financial decisions for the next decade… not to mention your everyday life.

So we've made sure the speakers you'll hear at Agora Financial Investment Symposium will give you precisely the answers you need.

A Gathering of the World's Smartest Minds

Over the past 10 years, we've made a habit of offering you the best investment perspectives. If you joined us for previous Symposiums, you had chances to hear from the likes of financial publishing icon and former U.S. presidential candidate Steve Forbes, legendary investor Jim Rogers and even best-selling authors such as Nassim Nicholas Taleb, Bill Bonner, Addison Wiggin and James Howard Kunstler, just to name a few.

Our goal is provide the most thought-provoking, insightful speakers, presenting profitable, tangible and actionable investment ideas. We have been known to even throw in the occasional wild-card speaker, just to keep things interesting.

The 2009 Symposium Speaker lineup promises to be no different.

We've confirmed sensational speakers and analysts like:

Dr. Marc Faber, the iconic investment adviser, legendary fund manager and editor of The Gloom Boom & Doom Report. You may never look at investing the same after hearing him speak. He doesn't run with the bulls or bait the bears, but steers his own course through the maelstrom of international finance markets. In 1987, he warned his clients to cash out before Black Monday on Wall Street; he made them handsome profits by forecasting the burst of the Japanese bubble in 1990; he correctly predicted the collapse in U.S. gaming stocks in 1993; and he foresaw the Asia-Pacific financial crisis of 1997/98 and the resulting global volatility. And he predicted our current global crisis years ago. Those that have followed his guidance have profited immensely. What will he discuss in Vancouver? Join us and find out.

Juan Enriquez, managing director of Excel Medical Ventures and chairman and CEO of Biotechonomy, is one of the leading authorities on emerging (and disruptive) technologies. His company researches and funds startups with the power to transform the world and reshape an investment portfolio. And trust us, he knows what he's talking about ― he sailed the world with the mind credited for mapping the human genome. Don't miss his sneak peek into the future, discussing the economic and political impacts revolutionary life sciences could unleash. Some might dismiss them as science fiction, but you'll discover these innovations are much closer than Wall Street thinks. Your opportunity to catch this investment wave is coming fast… and Juan will show you how.

Barry Ritholtz, author of the just released book Bailout Nation, publisher and editor of The Big Picture blog and CEO and director of equity research at FusionIQ, will provide his unique take on the markets, the economy and anything else that comes to his fantastic mind. You will love this guy.

And Dennis Gartman, the irreverent, outspoken, sardonic and brilliant analyst, returns to the symposium stage after a three-year hiatus. He is widely regarded as one of the true experts on markets, money and investment strategies. His latest ideas are likely to enable those in the know to successfully weather the next market storm, or ride the next rally.

Even more announcements will be coming soon.

It's some of the world's greatest financial minds gathered in one place, both on the stage and in the crowd ― sharing ideas and strategies you would have to spend thousands of dollars to learn about otherwise.

In fact, many of our speakers don't want to miss this opportunity, either. It's very common to find them sitting in the crowd before and after their speeches, listening to their peers at the podium. Very few head to the airport after they leave the stage. At the Symposium, you never know who might be sitting next to you.

That's probably because our speakers offer real ideas… not teases or sales pitches.

You get actual recommendations you can act on right away ― for a chance to see gains as high as the 53% we saw last year on a bet against the S&P 500… 108% on an IPO working an in-demand niche… and the incredible 1,035% gain I've been telling you about.

In fact, before I go any further, maybe I should tell you exactly how that played out…

A Modest Prediction Delivers a 1,035% Win

It all started with a presentation by Jack Crooks, CEO of Black Swan Capital Management.

While most analysts ― including a few at the conference! ― were bearish on the dollar, Jack saw a different scenario playing itself out.

Yes, the dollar was in trouble, he said… but it wasn't the worst currency out there. He bestowed that honor on the British pound.

At the time, the U.S. dollar was trading 2-for-1 against the pound ― that is, $2 bought you a single pound. It was a relationship that had lasted for quite some time. And with the United States sinking into recession, it didn't look like things were changing anytime soon.

Jack, however, saw an opportunity. England was slipping into the same problems that were hurting the U.S. economy ― only worse, he said. And based on his analysis, he knew the pound couldn't stay strong.

His modest prediction was that the pound would fall to 1.74 against the dollar within a year. And he offered a specific way to play that drop ― a simple put option on British pounds. Specifically, June 2009 1.80 pound calls…

You could have set up the play immediately on your cell phone ― in one call to your broker. Low-cost, limited risk. All you had to do next was wait to see if the pound dropped below 1.80 in a year.

And drop it did.

3

Bad news just kept flying out of England; the pound sank more and more. It blew right through Jack's 1.74 prediction… finally settling at around 1.50 or so.

As the pound fell, Jack's recommended put soared. From a starting price of just $3.60, it soared to $40.86 by March.

That's 1,035% ― enough to turn $1,000 into $11,350, or gains of $10,350.

I talked to Jack recently, and even he was surprised how well the recommended trade played out. He'd been hoping for a double, maybe a triple at most. Of course, he'll be speaking again this year.

Will lightning strike twice? In Vancouver, it is very possible…

But that's not the only reason to attend the Symposium.

Establish Profitable Friendships and Develop Vital Business Contacts

Remember, the Agora Financial Investment Symposium isn't just about learning strategies and making profits. The Symposium regularly draws a sold-out crowd of well-connected investors, executives, business leaders and financial minds from around the globe.

All told, we draw attendees from all 50 states, seven Canadian provinces and territories, 22 additional countries and six continents.

That makes the Symposium a great global networking opportunity. You'll have a chance to meet everyday men and women who share your passion for financial knowledge. Connect face to face with people you may have been reading for years. Even talk to analysts you'd never get to meet otherwise.

The friendships you forge and the contacts you develop could pay huge dividends in the years ahead ― especially in times like these, when you need every friend you can get.

And to help you, we've loaded the Agora Financial Investment Symposium with plenty of free time and social events.

Champagne and cocktail receptions… coffee and snack breaks… continental breakfasts… sponsored lunches… even our popular Whiskey Bar…

If you haven't heard about the Whiskey Bar, listen up!

Don't Miss Everyone's Favorite Event

The Whiskey Bar always gets high marks ― and not just because of the free booze.

Instead, it offers some of the most animated debates of the week. We give our most controversial speakers and writers a few drinks… and then invite them onstage for an intellectual free-for-all. No topic is off-limits, from economic policy to the latest on the War on Capitalism, from guns to taxes… anything goes, no holds barred.

And with governments around the world getting more and more desperate to contain the economic and other crises, we're expecting some major fireworks from our Whiskey Bar panel this year.

What will hard-core free market anarchist Doug Casey say about the U.S. government's bailout plans? After all, he's the man who once told the Symposium that it was too late to stop U.S. politicians from wrecking things, but too soon to drag them out into the street to do away with them.

Or how will controversial analyst and author James Howard Kunstler react to President Obama's energy or infrastructure policies? Kunstler's best-selling book The Long Emergency stressed that America's current energy model is fatally flawed ― and unless we take drastic action, we're in for a very bleak future.

With populists, anarchists and libertarians fighting to make their points, it's sure to be a feisty, fun and informative debate.

And when you're not rubbing elbows at the conference, you'll get to enjoy some of the best food and attractions Canada has to offer.

Vancouver: The Jewel of Canada

Summer weather in Vancouver is like a good spring anywhere else. In fact, during one Symposium a few years back, the temperature got up to 86 degrees one day. The local residents called it a heat wave! Coming from Baltimore, we found it just about perfect.

Wherever you're coming from, you'll think you're in heaven. Cool Pacific breezes drift in from the bay. Gorgeous mountain peaks surround you. The people are pleasant and smiling. Sculptures and artistic fountains can be found everywhere. It's stunning.

Rent a bike and circumnavigate Stanley Park. It boasts beautiful beaches, historic aboriginal totem poles, spectacular views of the water, an aquarium and plenty of local history to explore.

Or visit the Vancouver Art Gallery ― just across the street from the Symposium hotel. Inside are 9,000 artworks… one of the most valuable collections in Canada.

If you're a bit more daring, sign up for a seaplane ride and circle the city for a bird's-eye look at Vancouver, before returning to an exciting water landing.

Also keep your schedule free on Wednesday night, July 22. That's when Vancouver hosts the Celebration of Light ― the largest fireworks competition in the world. Every Wednesday and Saturday, a different international team lights up the Vancouver skyline with the most advanced fireworks.

And I haven't even mentioned the restaurants yet.

A Great Restaurant on Every Corner

There are dozens of great restaurants within walking distance of the hotel ― no matter what your tastes.

Looking for great steaks? Joe Fortes will fill you up. Italian? Caffé dé Medici has everything you need. Sushi? At Tsunami, you pick sushi dishes from little boats that float by.

Casual, formal, cheap or expensive ― you'll find it nearby. And there are other great restaurants a short cab ride away.

Nu offers a thoroughly modern dining experience. The Cannery offers top seafood in a rustic, yet sophisticated waterfront atmosphere. Venture out to Chinatown for culinary delights not usually available outside of Beijing.

Wherever you go, you can't go wrong.

If you don't feel like venturing out for food, don't worry. Our continental breakfast, sponsored lunches, snack breaks and other events will keep you going during the day. And at night, you can enjoy several options within the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver.

Speaking of which…
